RF Pixel Resurfacing at BioSkin Laser
New York life can be demanding on your skin. If acne scars, visible pores, rough texture or early fine lines are affecting how you feel about your complexion, BioSkin Laser offers a personalized approach to skin rejuvenation. Our published treatment information describes Alma Laser RF microneedling as part of our RF Pixel resurfacing offering. We focus on matching the procedure and settings to your skin rather than promising a one-size-fits-all transformation.
RF Pixel resurfacing is a term used for fractional radiofrequency-based skin treatments. The exact treatment technique matters: RF microneedling uses fine needles to deliver radiofrequency energy into the skin, while some fractional RF systems use surface electrodes. Your provider should confirm which device and applicator will be used during your visit.
How does fractional RF resurfacing work?
Controlled radiofrequency energy creates targeted zones of heat in the skin. The healing response can encourage collagen remodeling over time, which may gradually soften the appearance of textural irregularities. RF microneedling combines that energy with fine needles to deliver treatment at selected depths. It is not the same as laser resurfacing, which uses light energy.
What concerns may RF Pixel help address?
- Acne scars: may improve the appearance of certain depressed or atrophic scars, depending on their type and severity.
- Uneven texture and enlarged-looking pores: may help skin appear smoother and more refined.
- Fine lines: collagen remodeling may produce modest improvements in some wrinkles.
- Mild skin laxity: some people notice subtle firming, but this does not replace surgical lifting.
- Selected body concerns: a provider can assess whether a specific RF technique is suitable for stretch marks or other texture concerns.
Deep scars, substantial sagging and pigmentation conditions may need other or combined treatments. Not every concern responds equally well to RF.

What to expect before, during and after treatment
Before your appointment
Tell your provider about recent sun exposure, tanning, active breakouts or infections, cold sores, pregnancy, implanted electronic devices, blood-thinning medicines and recent cosmetic treatments. Do not discontinue prescribed medications unless your clinician advises it. Follow the individualized preparation instructions you receive.
During treatment
After skin cleansing, a clinician may use topical numbing where appropriate. The applicator delivers a series of controlled treatments across the planned area. Sensations can include warmth, pressure or brief discomfort. Session length varies with the treatment area and device settings.
Recovery and aftercare
Temporary redness, swelling, sensitivity, dryness or small crusts can occur. Avoid picking at the skin, use gentle skincare and sun protection, and follow the clinic’s instructions on makeup, exercise and active skincare ingredients. Downtime varies and should not be assumed to be zero.
Results: gradual improvement, not an overnight change
Collagen remodeling takes time. Some patients notice changes over several weeks, with further improvement over the following months. A series of treatments may be suggested depending on the concern and device; results and maintenance needs vary. RF resurfacing cannot guarantee complete scar removal, permanently poreless skin or a surgical lifting effect.
Safety and important risks
RF microneedling is a medical procedure and should be performed by appropriately trained professionals. In addition to expected temporary redness or swelling, potential complications include burns, infection, pigmentation changes, scarring, unwanted fat loss and nerve injury. The FDA has highlighted reports of serious complications with certain uses of RF microneedling devices. Ask who will perform your treatment, which device will be used and how risks are managed for your skin.
